Experience the Joy of Piano Lessons in Raleigh or Piano Lessons in Cary
Dave structures and tailors piano lessons to fit the goals and needs of his students. The curriculum includes method books with lesson and theory components, and literature of classical and any styles. Additionally, scales, etudes, exercises, ear training, listening selections and beginning song-writing/ composition may be weaved into the curriculum based on students’ needs and interests.
He encourages and helps students to pick supplemental selections from pop, folk, rock, or movie theme titles, or any styles which interest them. Students enjoy learning to play songs which they help choose. All music has educational value, Dave believes, so students can learn much from any style of music they are excited about.
Learning music should be naturally progressive and fun; the ideal zone is neither too easy nor too difficult. Students learn best when they are intrinsically motivated, he believes, and so literature should be inspirational whenever possible. At the same time, Dave will challenge highly-motivated students to the best of their abilities.
Starting age is generally as early as six years (perhaps five if the child’s fine motor skills and attention span are advanced and/or if they attend kindergarten) through adult.
David organizes informal recitals for his students to showcase their musical progress. Additionally, his students may participate in recitals and other events offered by the Cary-Apex Piano Teachers’ Association.
Lessons are primarily given face-to-face, the traditional way. However, virtual lessons are available too, and work well in the event of inclement weather, days when the virtual option would be more convenient, or to take precautions for illness.
Dave is an active member of the Cary-Apex Piano Teachers’ Association.
