Experience the Joy of Bass Guitar Lessons in Raleigh or in Cary
Dave enjoys offering his students electric bass guitar lessons (electric bass ) for any style of music. Electric bass is the foundation of so many styles, so knowing how to play it opens many musical doors. Dave’s bass guitar lessons are designed to give students a well-rounded set of applicable skills. He can teach for both fretted and non-fretted electric bass/ bass guitar.
Many students of electric bass desire to cross-over to string bass (upright bass), or vice-versa. Dave is competent and experienced at teaching and performing on both instruments. Therefore, he can help students transfer from one to the other type of bass.
Bass Guitar Lessons- structure
Dave uses a combination of method books, scales, exercises and supplemental songs and pieces in his teaching curriculum. This develops the students in a well-balanced way, enabling them to conquer a wide variety of musical styles with continued practice. David encourages his students to practice bass guitar most days of the week. It takes time and diligence to develop the finger dexterity required to play bass well.
Students are encouraged to pick pieces which interest and inspire them. these may range from pop, funk, or folk, to rock or jazz. Because it’s so important for being a successful bass player, Dave integrates music theory into the lessons. This gives students a deep understanding of creating bass lines, helping them to learn how to create music on their own.
Lessons are primarily given face-to-face, the traditional way. However, if a parent occasionally finds getting to a lesson at Dave’s home studio problematic, Dave can offer online lessons via Skype or Zoom at the student’s usual lesson day/ time as an alternative. Online lessons can also work well in the event of inclement weather when driving would be risky, or to take precautions for illness. \
David organizes relaxed recitals for his students to showcase their musical progress.
